Kiersten is inspired to work in health care by the opportunity to bring compassionate and high-quality services to whomever needs them. Before becoming a nurse, she worked for three years as a medical assistant at a community-based reproductive health center in Western Massachusetts. Her academic background is in medical anthropology, so her nursing philosophy is grounded in an understanding of the many personal, social, and cultural influences on a person’s health. She is currently enrolled in UVM’s nurse practitioner program and hopes to someday provide family care in rural Vermont. When she isn’t studying, she enjoys rock climbing, seeking the perfect cup of coffee, vegetable and flower gardening, and exploring Vermont with her husband and dog.
