Board-certified Physician’s Assistant with a Master’s degree in Public Health
Katja is a native Vermonter who has been a Certified Physician’s Assistant since 2006. Her clinical focus and passion have been Ob/Gyn from the start of her career, having worked previously in private practice in Pennsylvania, at Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, and most recently at Northwestern Medical Center’s Ob/Gyn practice. Katja is delighted to now call Vermont Gynecology her practice home!
With a Master’s in Public Health and international experience in maternal and child health, Katja enjoys following her patients through all the ages of stages of life. She treats a wide range of gynecologic concerns, and has special interests in adolescent and young adult health, preconception counseling, contraceptive care, and management of abnormal pap smears. Katja performs office Gyn procedures such as IUD and Nexplanon insertions, and she has also spent several years as a Surgical First Assistant in Ob/Gyn.
Katja attended St. Olaf College in Minnesota, where she received her undergraduate degree. She went on to earn a Master of Public Health degree with an emphasis in Child and Family Health at the University of Arizona, Tucson. She completed her postgraduate education at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she was awarded her PA degree. She is now a Vermont Board Certified PA, having returned to and practiced in Vermont since 2009.
Katja lives with her husband and two children in Fairfax, Vermont. Winters are busy with basketball, skiing, snowboarding, and family movie nights. Summers are even busier with hiking, mountain biking, and lots of lake time with family and friends. You may often see Katja in the office with a pair of running shoes on. She ran XC in college and still enjoys running to this day.
