
Board Eligible Obstetrician Gynecologist, specializing in Gynecology
Born in Canada and raised in Virginia, Dr. Peterkin was keen on returning to the North. She received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering as well as Mathematics from Virginia Commonwealth University. She graduated from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine then completed her OB/GYN residency at Atrium Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. During her training, she pursued Global Health initiatives in multiple countries of Central America. She is also an enthusiastic teacher and received the Excellence in Medical Student Teaching Award during residency.
As a generalist, she provides a broad spectrum of gynecologic care. Dr. Peterkin is proficient in complex office procedures as well as minimally invasive surgery, with certifications in both laparoscopy and robotic-assisted techniques. Additionally, she is passionate about shared decision-making with patients through counseling and conversation.
In her downtime, she enjoys her longstanding interests such as movement arts, skiing/snowboarding, and scuba diving. However, she also welcomes new hobbies and adventures. She is an avid believer in lifelong learning in both medicine and pastime activities.
